I've been on a fingerstyle guitar kick lately and I'm trying to find artists who are a bit off the beaten path. I love Fahey and Kottke but I want something that pushes the style into slightly different territory. Someone mentioned Tim Sparks – is he worth checking out? What's his style like?

He's definitely worth a listen. He's an acoustic guitarist who blends folk, blues, and classical influences in a really interesting way. What sets him apart is his work with traditional Jewish melodies – he takes those old tunes and turns them into intricate, hypnotic fingerstyle arrangements that feel both ancient and completely fresh.
