Just got my denial letter and I'm completely lost | Forum

Well, it finally happened opened my mailbox this morning to find that lovely thick envelope from the insurance company telling me my claim has been denied because they're saying my injury wasn't work-related. I work at a nursery outside Kingston, and I was loading bags of soil into a customer's truck when my knee just gave out twisted it pretty bad, turns out I tore my meniscus. My manager saw it happen, there were witnesses, and I reported it the same day, but apparently none of that matters now. I've never dealt with anything like this before and honestly I'm not even sure what my next step is supposed to be. I know I have to file an appeal or something within a certain timeframe but the denial letter is full of all this legal jargon that's making my head spin. I've been poking around online looking for Kingston workers comp claim help and trying to figure out if this is something I can handle on my own or if I'm just going to make things worse by missing some deadline I don't even know about. Has anyone successfully overturned a denial without hiring anyone, or am I kidding myself thinking I can fight these people alone? Really could use some guidance from folks who've been through the ringer with this.
