Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a children’s book and looking to hire an illustrator. I want the artwork to really bring the story to life, but I’m not sure how to find the right illustrator or what to look for.

From my research, here are some key tips:

  1. Check the Portfolio: Look for illustrators who have experience with children’s books and a style that matches your story’s tone.

  2. Experience Matters: An illustrator familiar with story pacing and page layout can make your book much more engaging.

  3. Communication: Make sure the illustrator is easy to communicate with and open to revisions.

  4. Budget: Prices vary a lot, so have a clear budget in mind but remember that quality is worth it.

  5. Rights & Licensing: Clarify who owns the artwork and if you can use it for marketing and other media.

Has anyone here hire an illustrator for a children's book before? Any recommendations or tips would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance.
